Wikileaks Website Officially Unavailable Worldwide

The DNS provider of Wikileaks.org has officially taken the website offline, and now Wikileaks is officially unavailable worldwide. EveryDNS.net was the host that provided Wikileaks its domain name system services, and it has officially terminated its DNS on the 2nd December. EveryDNS.net terminated the DNS system because it has violated their terms and conditions which state “Member shall not interfere with another Member’s use and enjoyment of the Service or another entity’s use and enjoyment of similar services.”

Prior to the ban, Wikileaks was attacked consistently by the DDoS, according to which the website was inaccessible. The attacks as such will be threatening EveryDNS.net, who hosts more than 500000 websites around the world. Wikileaks was told in advance that its website was going to go offline.

Wikileaks has exposed innumerable classified documents of the United States on its website which made the nation retaliate strongly against the leaks, and they eventually they took a very strict action against them. As long as Assange is safe and alive the problem is still not over, prior to this he has even supplied various media personnel with classified documents so that they could be published. For now the threat for the US has still not been evaded.

Amazon Stops Hosting Wikileaks After Pressure From United States

Amazon has officially stopped hosting Wikileaks after the pressure stepped by U.S. Senate Homeland Security Committee. The whole country is now angry over the leaked US embassy files and has banned the website in some parts of the world. Hackers in the United States started to flood the website and then made it impossible to be accessed.

Wikileaks told the media that it will now be hosting the website for servers placed in Europe. Amazon on the other hand has not made any official comments in context to Wikileaks, but the Chairman of U.S. Senate Homeland Security Committee was quite happy over Amazon’s action.

In response Wikileaks slammed Amazon via twitter and stated that if they were “so uncomfortable with the First Amendment (of the U.S. Constitution), they should get out of the business of selling books.” Wikileaks had released these documents through its own website as well through other media sources too. But the American officials still state even though Wikileaks has been stopped hosting in their country, the problem is not yet solved.

Wikileaks Website Once Again Struck By DDoS Attack

Once again the Wikileaks website has been struck by a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack, in a move to avoid people from visiting the website and watch the exposed documents on the web. The website was struck by a DDoS earlier on Sunday, and the website had somehow sustained it. The attack had taken place just hours before the release of the alleged documents.

The Jester, has taken the responsibility of Sunday’s attack but there are many experts and skeptics who believe that it cannot be the work of a single hacker. Tuesday’s attack has been focused on the website cablegate.wikileaks.org, and the website tweeted that the recent attack has been more serious than the one before.

The DDoS attack has now exceeded to 2 gigabytes per second, which is very harsh in the technological terms. Netcraft, a security firm has been keeping a note of this attack and it has said that the attack has been expanded to contain the wikileaks domain too. Many nations around the world are banning the site directly, but Wikileaks seems to be determined in its motive.

The NY Times had stated that a 22 year old army private was the source who provided them the documents, but this was not true at all, as it was Guardian who has been behind the cables the whole time. David Leigh, an investigator at Guardian stated “we got the cables from WL (Wikileaks), we gave a copy to the NYT.

On Sunday, Leigh wrote on the Guardian, that his investigators and staff have spent months in investigating and going through the documents which they obtained from Wikileaks. In conclusion it was Wikileaks the whole time that provided The Guardian the ‘Afghanistan and Iraq War Logs’ to publish. Assange on the other hand does not have a good opinion about NY Times, because they tried to destroy his public profile by putting him on the front page of their newspaper during the month of October.
