Foreign Secretary of India Nirupama Rao, has stated that, India is ready to have the Indo-Pak talks, but India asks Pakistan to stop supporting terrorism within its country. According to Mrs. Rao, she has said that terrorism which has been supported by Pakistan on its soil, has been used for attacking India consistently in the recent years.

She also added that the concept and the main motive of the talks should not be diverted, as the main issue is and always was terrorism, and that Pakistan should assure India that it is not supporting terrorism on its soil, which is used against India. Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Pakistan Foreign Minister on the other hand stated that the talks can be resumed as soon as possible, if any positive response comes from the Indian side.
Mr. Qureshi did emphasize that he wants to go ahead with the talks, but he never mentioned anything about producing any sort of results after these talks would come up with. Qureshi has many a times brought up the issue of sorting out Kashmir in public forums at New York, and he even stated that US as a world leader should bring up a peaceful and just solution to Kashmir. But Nirupama Rao has stated that Qureshi never brought up this very topic during the talks. On the other perspective, why should Qureshi first approach the US over the Kashmir issue, rather than talking to India first, as he is already insisting of having talks with India.
