Japan witnessed one of the most severe earthquake it has seen in years on Friday, but after the quake the Tokyo Electric Power Co. nuclear power plant has taken more than just normal damage. According to experts the nuclear meltdown could just be hours away and this shall be devastating.
The power plant officials and employees are working through the hours to just cool down the entire system, and bring operations into normality. The plant is undergoing a station blackout which means the reactor core is not receiving enough coolants to keep the rods from over heating, thus this tends to become one of the most serious situation any nuclear power station can be in.
TEPCO will now consider to release some of the radiation to bring down the pressure on the coolant system at the Daiichi and Daini plant. This situation at a nuclear power station has occurred only once in history, at Three Mile Island in the US. If the condition begins to deteriorate the entire plant will be on the verge of seeing a nuclear meltdown, and country will witness its next nuclear catastrophe after the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
