The 59th Miss World Pageant took place on December 12, 2009 in South Africa and it saw a new beauty being crowned as the new Miss World 2009. The winner was a surprise to everyone since it was the first time that a little known country such as Gibraltar won the Miss World 2009 crown.

Miss Gibraltar Kaiane Aldorino is the new Miss World 2009. She beat Miss World favorites and finalists Miss Mexico, Miss France and Miss South Africa to become the next Miss World.

The very gorgeous Miss Mexico Perla Beltran became the first runner-up while Miss South Africa Tatum Keshwar came in as the second runner-up.

The 23 year old Kaiane Aldorino was the first contestant to qualify for the semi-finals after she won the Miss World Beach Body contest in the Miss World Fast Track Competitions.

This is the very first time that a contestant from Gibraltar has qualified for the Miss World Finals and Kaiane Aldorino made history when she won the Miss World 2009 crown.

India’s Priyanka Chopra who is a former Miss World and Bollywood actress will be one of the judges for the Miss World 2009 pageant on December 12, 2009.

The 59th Miss World Pageant takes place in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Miss World 2009 finals takes place at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg.

China’s leading TV presenter Angela Chow and South African TV host Michelle McLean will be the hosts for the night and former Miss World Priyanka Chopra will also be a part of it.

Priyanka Chopra won the Miss World crown back in 2000 and is now one of Bollywood’s famous actresses. She has acted in a number of films in India as well as commercials.

19-year-old Chloe Mortaud will represent France at the Miss World 2009 pageant that takes place on December 12, 2009.

Chloe comes from Albigeois-Midi Pyrénées and her role model is actress Halle Berry.

She had taken part in the Miss Universe pageant earlier this year and came 6th. Although she is one of the favorites, she faces good competition in Miss Puerto Rico and Miss Mexico.

The Miss World Pageant is in its 59th year and will see 120 beautiful ladies participating in the pageant.

According to bookies, Chloe features in the top 10 favorites for the Miss World title. Puerto Rico’s Jennifer Colen tops the list for now.

Rachel Christie, the current Miss England, has surrendered her crown after being detained on an alleged nightclub assault.

According to reports, Rachel apparently punched Sara Beverley Jones, 24 – who is also Miss Manchester – during a dispute in a nightclub in Manchester.

Rachel, who made news earlier this year as the first black woman to win the crown of Miss England, was one of the favorites for the Miss World 2009 title till her arrest.

She is also a heptathlete and the the niece of former athlete Linford Christie.

The organizers of Miss England released this statement, “Due to the media attention following the allegations against her, Rachel Christie has now decided to withdraw from the Miss World competition and relinquish her Miss England crown. Rachel will concentrate on clearing her name and focus on training for the 2012 Olympics until this case is resolved.”

An investigation is underway to determine the exact sequence of events.
