If the sources are to be believed then the news is that Amarnath Yatra pilgrims are the next target of the militants based in Pakistan. The security agencies have got a high alert by the government for the same.
An official said, “As the attention of the security forces is concentrated on the prevailing unrest in the Valley, the militants may try to take advantage of the situation. Therefore, we have asked everyone to be on high alert.”
“We have provided enough security men for peaceful completion of the pilgrimage,” he added.
As many as 8,500 paramilitary force personnel have been deployed in the valley as the security measures. The number exceeded by 2,200 as of last year.
The Yatra that is going to end on August 25 is expected to have around 2.90 lakh pilgrims.
