Hollywood actress Kate Winslet on the 22nd August had proved herself as a hero. On Monday the $70 million home of the Virgin Group CEO Richard Branson was struck by fire after, which even a storm had destroyed the house on the Caribbean Islands.

This was when Kate carried the 90 year old mother of the CEO while the house was still burning. There were 20 guests in the house which included the actress.

The house is a very popular location, which is being rented by many of the celebrities in Hollywood. Branson was sleep when the fire broke out and he had hear screams on the island.

He had seen the whole house which was on flames and started to run around to rescue all the guests. The CEO said that the first priority was to rescue everyone out of the house. Branson added that his mother was 90 years old and could not walk. So the actress lifted her and took her to safety. Branson’s 29 year old daughter Holly was planning for a wedding on the Necker Island in the upcoming winter. The CEO said that they would get it ready for the wedding before time. Branson said that the house is going to be beautiful again soon.

Hollywood actress Kate Winslet and director Sam Mendes have announced that they have split after 6 years of marriage.

Reports say that the 34-year-old Titanic actress split from her husband, American Beauty director Sam earlier this year and it was mutual. They have a child together, six-year-old Joe Alfie Winslet Mendes.

According to a statement made from law firm Schillings, it said: “Kate and Sam are saddened to announce that they separated earlier this year. The split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement. Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their children. They ask that the media respect their privacy at this time.”

This was the second marriage for Oscar-winner Kate Winslet, who was previously married to film assistant Jim Threapleton in 1998. The couple divorced in 2001 and have one child, nine-year-old Mia.

Oscar winning actress Kate Winslet has reportedly signed on to be the star of the HBO mini-series version of Mildred Pierce.

The Mildred Pierce story is about a single mother who works a a waitress so that she can provide for her two daughters during the Depression. Mildred becomes very fond of her eldest girl once her younger child passes away, but the older girl seems very unappreciative of all the work that she does and eventually shoots her stepdad.

Mildred Pierce is a 1945 movie that won actress Joan Crawford an Academy Award. This role also happens to be Kate Winslet’s first five-hour TV special ever since her role in the The Reader last year.

Kate Winslet is one of Hollywood’s biggest actresses and is well known for her award winning role of ‘Rose’ in the blockbuster movie Titanic.
