Intoxicated passenger who raised bomb scare jailed

An air passenger, who was on his way from the Middle East to the Heathrow Airport in London has been sentenced to three years of jail. 38 year old James Glen had reportedly caused fake bomb threat on the flight, which was later escorted by military jets.

The judge of the Chelmsford Crown Court has told James that he had created serious inconvenience for the rest of the passengers on board. James, who is a panel beater and car sprayer in Chard Somerset, was in a state of alcohol while in the flight and had told the flight attendant that the person sitting next to him had a gun and had threatened to blow himself up.

After the alarm was raised, the RAF Typhoons were called in and had escorted the Etihad flight to Standsted near Chelmsford. According to James, he had been living in Australia for 18 years and the flight was his first one in 20 years.

Due to this, the person had a fear of flying and was tired. Hence to overcome the fear, James had consumed alcohol and had also taken an anti histamine drug. Further Judge Charles Gratwicke said that any traveler with such intentions will not be spared of imprisonment.
