Gia Carangi was the first supermodel of America in the 70’s and 80’s and she used to make it to the news headlines frequently because of her fashion career and life style and not to mention her troubled life in the fashion industry.
All throughout her career she was the woman that the industry thought of giving the prior preference, for the reason that she had unmatched beauty. Her life was as smooth as silk and everything was at the peak till 1986, when she discovered that she was ailing with HIV AIDS. As the news broke out, it was a shocking moment for everyone, including her loved ones and the fashion industry.
By the time she discovered her disease and started her treatment, the sickness in her had become very complicated and was very serious. Her treatment commenced in the Hahnemann University Hospital, Philadelphia. But it was as if her fate was already decided, despite all the treatment with the state of the art medicines and doctors in those years, she died at the age of 26 in November 18, 1986.
She was remembered by many in those days and even today, it’s hard for someone to forget her memories, especially if one was close to her. In her memory, a movie was made on her life named ‘Gia’, where Angelina Jolie played her role.
