The golden moments of the victory of the Indian cricket team in the World Cup Finals is still fresh in the memory of each and every Indian. The moments had also dominated the 2009-10 BCCI awards function that was held in Mumbai at the Taj Land’s End on 31st May on Tuesday.
The event was attended by the victorious team as well as some of the former veteran cricketers. The evening was a moment of pride for captain MS Dhoni and for his boys. As per the promise of the BCCI, the team members were handed over cheques of Rs two crores for each member.
Moreover, even the support team were given Rs 50 lakh cheque each. The evening was graced by some of the former cricketers like Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Balwinder Singh Sandhu, Ravi Shastri and Yashpal Sharma.
The most nostalgic moment of the event was when an audio visual presentation of the moments of the victory at the Wankhede Stadium on 2nd April, was played. The presentation had re-lived the moments of the victory against Australia, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Sachin Tendulkar was honored with the Indian Cricketer for the year 2009-10, while Salim Durani was honored with the lifetime achievement award.
