Bangalore city’s major water reservoirs, Krishanraja Sagar and the Kabini reservoir, are on the brink of becoming completely empty, and for the moment it is depleting quickly. In some time from now it is feared that the city may plunge into acute water shortage crisis.
A senior official of the Water Resource Department, stated that they have already stopped pumping water out from Krishnaraja Sagar, it has dropped to 85ft compared to the 105ft in July last year. In the Kabini reservoir, the water is around 2277ft compared to the 2280ft in last July.
The water in these reservoirs are depleting at a very fast pace, and Bangalore looks to be heading straight towards an acute water crisis. The Cauvery river makes up the 90% of the water source for the city of Bangalore, but since the inflow into the reservoirs is not sufficient, it has become a point worry for the people.
