Padma Bhushan awardee, Asha Bhosle will be celebrating her 77th birthday on September 8. One of the most versatile singers of the Bollywood, she has been lending her voice since past six decades and still continues to do so.
She has sung for almost all the leading ladies, right from Vyjayanthimala to Urmila Matondkar and also for all the leading music composers. The song, ‘Maang ke saath tumhara’ from the film Naya Daur that was released in the year 1957 can be called as her launching pad.
Her other hits like ‘Dum maro dum’ from the film Hare Rama Hare Krishna, ‘Mehbooba mehbooba’ from Sholay, ‘Mera kuch saaman’ from Ijaazat, ‘Piya tu ab to aaja’ Caravan and ‘Chura liya hai tum ne’ from Yaadon Ki Baraat are still adored by this generation as well. All these songs were composed by RD Burman.
