Japan hit by a 7.9 magnitude earthquake

Once again Japan has been struck with a 7.9 magnitude earthquake off the northeast coast of the country. The quake struck on Friday morning had lasted for several minutes,  there was violent shaking of buildings and panic struck the region. What was worse, the geological agency has warned Japan, the quake could have possibly triggered a 19 feet high tsunami.

If the tsunami is generated it will surly strike the Miyagi prefecture which lies nearest to the epicentre of the quake. According to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii, the tsunami’s can have a reach up to Japan, Russia, Marcus Island and the Northern Marianas. Currently this is the strongest earthquake to have struck the region this year.

Tsunami watch have been issued at Guam, Taiwan, the Philippines, Indonesia and U.S. state of Hawaii. Details regarding this quake show, it was generated 10 kms below the earth’s surface, and 125 kms east to the coast of Japan. The tremors were felt as far as Tokyo and in a CCTV footage it could be seen, the buildings were violently shaking and people were running towards the streets.

Japan – Earthquake of magnitude 7.2 strikes off the coast

A magnitude 7.2 earthquake has struck a region off the coast of Japan, sending waves of fear among the localities. The major fear which was among the people, was a strike of a Tsunami after the quake as the tremor originated near the island of Honshu. Geological survey affirms the quake generated 169 kms east of the Honshu island, and it did not create any major tsunamis.

US Geological survey claims, there was a small tsunami generated but its height was just 19.6 inches. The quake was massive but its has not caused any massive devastation on the Japanese mainland, it was a huge relief. Media personnel in Japan have claimed to have felt the earthquake on the mainland, which is more than 267 kms away from the epicentre.

Correspondents of CNN have reported, the shaking created by the quake lasted for almost 3 minutes in the capital, but did not cause any credible damage. Japan has always been prone to earthquakes and there are minor tremors jolting the mainland and the region around it on almost a regular basis.

Youth protests take place in Kuwait, demand Prime Minister’s resignation

The situation in Kuwait has now slowly turned violent as youths have started to protests against the government and are demanding the Prime Minister to resign. Plus they are also expecting to have greater freedom in the oil producing nation so as they could have a better future. A particular group called as the Fifth Fence is holding this protest in Kuwait.

Youth around the country are demanding their current Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad al-Ahmad al-Sabah to step down from his post as he has completely five years in reign. It has also been seen the al-Sabah family has been ruling over the tiny country for almost 250 years.

According to experts this is the first step towards reformation in the country and it is the youth of the country who have demanded for the change. Kuwait is just one of the many Arab countries who have stepped towards the need of reformation in the respective countries.

Volcano erupts in Kilauea Hawaii, lava and smoke rise 65 feet in the air

Kilauea,Hawaii has erupted violently and there has been massive volcanic activity at the Pu’u O’o crater which collapsed within itself. The fracture in the crater occurred east to the Kilauea rift in Hawaii which is 2 miles from Pu’u O’o. Lava from the volcano has been spewing up to 65 feet in the air, which is quite dangerous for any living being near by.

Volcanogist who were present at the scene were quite excited to see Kilauea erupt and they stated, this is the sole reason they have worked for, to see an eruption take place in the country. Reports show the volcano has been erupting on a minor basis since Jan. 3, 1983, and during the last weekend it came out with full might.

During the past 24 hours there has been serious volcanic and seismic activity near the volcano, and scientists claim, the region around the volcano can easily collapse or even erupt without warning, prediction are also made that the region can also have sulfer dioxide gases stored up below the earth.

Massive Somalia offensive kills 53 African Union Peacekeepers

53 African Union Peacekeepers have been killed during a massive offensive against Islamists militants on Friday in Somalia. The news about the AU Peacekeepers deaths is the first major killings this year, as the country has been consistently fighting a war within and also running without an official government. Major countries around the world consider Somalia as a stockpile of TNT which has been exploding since decades.

Termed as the most unstable country in the world, Somalia today is a testing ground for many forces. Only a handful of deaths have been confirmed by the AU, as a spokesperson told the media in Nairobi on Saturday. Experts claim the total number of casualties could even been higher, but it has not yet been confirmed.

The fragile government in Somalia has been promising the world, they shall have a full fledged war against the Islamists in country, but because of the subtle training provided to the AU forces this war could not move to the next level. According to a statistics report, 43 Burundian and 10 Ugandan troops could have died in the Islamists clash in Somalia.

Ivory Coast heading towards civil war situation, seven women killed

Ivory Coast, a tiny nation on the west coast of Africa is on the verge of stepping into a civil war situation, as seven women killed during a silent protest. As the women were massacred in public by the security forces, the people went berserk. The country which has always been an elite example of peace in North Africa has now entered a stage of civil war.

Economic meltdown and joblessness has forced more than 200,000 people to leave the country, and thus there has been restlessness in the region. The attack took place in the city of Abobo, where people had taken to the streets who were carrying out a silent protest against this situation in the country.

Witnessing the protests, at once security officers opened fired over the settlement in Abobo killing six women on the spot. The military officers have not yet made a comment in context to the killing, but they have told some people, the protests were a security threat as rebels could have taken cover amidst civilians in the city.

Libya anti government rebels will not negotiate until Gaddafi steps down

Anti-government rebels in Libya have said, there shall be no negotiations between Gaddafi and the anti-government protesters until Gaddafi officially steps down. The rebels are even insisting that Gaddafi should go away into exile after he steps down from his post. In addition to this, the International Criminal Court has summoned an investigation over Gaddafi and his sons against humanity crimes.

Tripoli the capital, is nothing less than a war zone and protesters decided to have gatherings after the Friday prayers. The situation in Benghazi was something that has concerned everyone and the National Libyan Council has said now there is no way there could be negotiations with the government, as Gaddafi ordered to bomb the anti -government region, killing many.

Libya’s opposition council has said if there is any negotiations then it will be in context as how Gaddafi would step down. Experts from the west state, both parties in the country stand on neutral grounds, as they will not be able to move artillery and manpower across the vast desert of Libya.

Suicide blast at a bank in Haditha Iraq kills 10 people

Iraq is still having a tough time dealing with extremists attacks within the country, and this time a suicide bomb blast at a bank in Haditha has killed 10 people. It was reported, a long queue of people were waiting outside a bank when a suicide bomber came and attacked the bank, and at once 10 people lost their lives.

Police state 26 people were injured during the attack and they have been taken to the hospital for medical attention. The attack took place at the Rafidain bank, on the most renowned bank’s in Iraq. The country has been battered by suicide attacks and sort of insurgent attacks on regional people and even on the security forces present there.

After an investigation, it was known the people who were standing outside the bank were Iraqi soldiers and they were collecting their salaries. It was really sad for these soldiers as they died only for the reason they stood against these extremists and joined the allied forces in Iraq.

McLobster sandwich in not true at all, and it has officially been confirmed by McDonald’s themselves. The internet has been abuzz with the rumours of the McLobster dish and its fame at the McDonald’s outlet in America. McDonald’s has said the McLobster dish is actually McFake and the entire news on the web is a huge rumour.

The media team of McDonald’s did question whether the McLobster dish has been tested in some cities around the country, but later the fast food giant asked who is responsible in spreading such news on the web. A lady from Maine has a different opinion about this, as she has been ordering the dish and consuming it for many years at a McDonald’s outlet, it is seasonal.

McDonald’s has refused to believe this dish is actually available in Maine, but many Canadians are stressing on the fact that they have been eating this dish for many years. The question arises whether McDonald’s is confused over the fact that the dish is available outside the US or is it trying to hide something.

Oman protests turn ugly, one reported dead

Middle East unrest fear is gripping the entire globe, and this time we are speaking of Oman, where one person was reported to have died during the protests on a square in Sohar, the industrial city of Oman. It has been reported, the security forces in the country used force to retaliate against the unruly crowd.

One of the main reasons the protests are taking place in Oman is, the people are demanding a change in the cabinet, for they want the ministers to serve the office only on a four year term. In addition to that, they are also demanding a hike in their minimum wage pay and living standards.

There were 2000 protesters who had gathered at the square, and the police started to disperse them by using strong force, tear gas and even batons. Many were injured and one has been reported dead, here the matters seem to get worse by the day. As of now, no government property has been damaged by the protesters in the country.
