Ahmedabad Airport Restarts After 7 Hours Of Ceasing

The Ahmedabad airport has restarted its operation on the Friday morning after a 7 hour shut down that was caused, after a Jet Airways plane was stranded on the runway. Operation returned to normal working only at 04.00 am. Early morning flights were affected on Friday morning but now the flights are back to normal.

The incident occurred when Jet Airways flight 9W 2510 was scheduled to Indore, had its nose wheel come off, and its was stranded on the runway. The airport authorities were trying their best to move the airline with damaging the runway. The Jet Airway flight was scheduled at 08.55 pm last Thursday night.

The plane got stranded in a position which it covered a certain part of the runway, so other flights had difficulty to take off. All the 57 passengers and 4 crew members on board are safe and are taken back to the airport terminal. A crane was used to tow away the aircraft, later the flights resumed.

Curfew Has Been Imposed In The Bandipora And Kupwara Districts of Kashmir

he separatists have started demonstartions in the Kashmir valley especially in the area of Sopore and the districts of Bandipora and Kupwara. As a result, curfew has been sanctioned in these areas. These demonstrations were in response of the killings of several youths who had died during the clashes with the security forces of the region.

In the remaining parts of the Kashmir Valley, there has been restriction in the movement of people around the cities. It is the strict Hurryat Conference who holding these demonstrations in the valley, as a result the police had to sanction curfew against them.

More police and para-military forces have been deployed to have a better grip on the situation in the valley, and on the other side, life in the valley is still slow and at most of the places just halted, as the situations has demanded a temporary closure of schools and educational institutions, along with the market places and shops in the surrounding area.

Aligarh Muslim University Decides To Establish Centres

The Executive Council of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) at the special adjourned meeting that was held on July 21, 2010 Wednesday has approved of some additional changes in their decree to make possible the establishment of various AMU centres. The changes have been made according to the requirements as per the University Act, under section 12(2).

The team of 14 members of Executive Council of the Aligarh Muslim University unanimously took the decision of these amendments. These changes were necessary to be made because the establishment of the new centres was subject to the decree.

The council informed that the Director of the Centre is supposed to be the Officer of the university, as per the Aligarh Muslim University, act under section 16.

Pre-University Science Seat Rs. 1 Lakh, Commerce Seat Rs. 50 Lakh In Bangalore

No matter how good marks a student scores, he would not be left with another option but to pay a donation to get admission in science and commerce streams in pre- university in Bangalore. Donations sometimes going beyond Rs.50,000 and Rs. 1,00,000, according to news reports.

The students scoring more than 80 per cent marks in their Secondary School Leaving Certificate exam are facing this problem to get admission in some reputed college.

The pre- university department Bangalore is jam-packed with complaints from students and their parents for not getting admission without giving donations even if their wards have gained more than 90 per cent marks.

Some colleges are believed to be lying about not left with having seats for the students with good scores and the parents feel that this is being said deliberately in order to get donations, even from the students who deserve those seats.

Heavy Torrents Of Rain Lashes Mumbai and Causes Waterlogging

The commercial capital of India today was lashed with heavy torrents of rain, which the city experienced today. The rains played havoc and caused heavy road and rail traffic in the city, water clogging has been experienced in the suburban areas of Mumbai.

The Meteorological Department provided the statistics of rain that has been poured in the city, stating the suburban area of Santa Cruz received 94mm of rain and the Coloba area received 83.7mm of rain. Rains have always been a problem for the city of Mumbai since many years, and especially talking about the water clogging, the issue has always comes up in the rainy season.

Trains, which has been the transportation nervous system for Mumbai, has been affected greatly by the rains. Both the Western route and the Central route, has experiencing difficulty in the mode of proper transportation, with trains running almost 20 to 25 minutes late. Water clogging has been seen in the areas of Vikhroli, Andheri, Malad, Kurla, Hindmata and Chembur.

Hard Times Ahead For Bangalore, As The City May Run Out Of Water Soon

Bangalore city’s major water reservoirs, Krishanraja Sagar and the Kabini reservoir, are on the brink of becoming completely empty, and for the moment it is depleting quickly. In some time from now it is feared that the city may plunge into acute water shortage crisis.

A senior official of the Water Resource Department, stated that they have already stopped pumping water out from Krishnaraja Sagar, it has dropped to 85ft compared to the 105ft in July last year. In the Kabini reservoir, the water is around 2277ft compared to the 2280ft in last July.

The water in these reservoirs are depleting at a very fast pace, and Bangalore looks to be heading straight towards an acute water crisis. The Cauvery river makes up the 90% of the water source for the city of Bangalore, but since the inflow into the reservoirs is not sufficient, it has become a point worry for the people.

Pandharpur Temple One Of The Most Important Pilgrimage Places In Maharashtra Holds Yatra On Ashadi Eadashi Pandharpur Yatra 2010

Pandharpur Temple is located in Solapur, Maharashtra and is of great impotance to Hindus. Ashadi Ekadashi is celebrated there today and pandharpur yatra is on. It is the place where Vitthal-Rukmini’s (Hindu deity) main (original) temple exists. Pandharpur is also known as Pandhari.

Lord Vitthal or Vithoba is supposed to be the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Pandhari holds four ‘Yatras’ every year. One of the Yatra’s is carried on in this period, which is the month of Ashad. Today, July 21, 2010 is Ashadi Ekadashi, which every year is celebrated in the month of Ashad (June-July).

The Yatra in Ashad is usually of 21 days and is also known as Ashadi Ekadashi Waari and Ashadi Ekadashi is the day when the 21 days long Yatra ends.

This year the Yatra began on July 3.

Ashadi Ekadashi is believed to be the day when Lord Vishnu sleeps on his snake ‘Ananta’ for four months and travels all over the Ksheer Sagar sea.

Shocking Moment In Medical History, Black British Couple Give Birth To White Girl Child

The couple, Benjamin and Angela Ihegboro, together have done what the whole medical profession has been shocked about. The black couple who are Nigerian in origin have given birth to a white baby girl, with blue eyes and blond hair.

The baby girl is named, Nmachi, had puzzled the genetic experts all over, on why does she look completely different from her parents. The couple already have two healthy black children before Nmachi, but this incident made even the father think, as if it were a flip.

The mother Angela stated, that after she was born, they both sat together and stared at the child, and she felt that she is a very beautiful child, a miracle baby indeed. Reporters jokingly asked the father whether she is actually their child, he was reluctant and stated that yes she is their own child. And even if his wife was not faithful, she would have not looked the way she is.

Studies By African Scientists Give New Hope To Women in H.I.V. Fight

The latest two African studies have found new ways to cut the HIV infection among the women. The South African scientists who are striving for the highly affected rural and urban regions claim that they have found something that will cut the HIV infections in women.

According to the 30 months study, the women who used the vaginal microbicidal gel had 39 per cent chances less to get affected by HIV. If these women used this gel regularly the chances dropped down more, almost to 54 per cent. The study was conducted on 889 women by a Durban based AIDS research centre, Caprisa.

This study needs to be tested a bit more in order to confirm the results. The gel will not be available in the market up till then. When the product gets in the market on a larger scale it would cost less than 25 cents per application.
