Bono a Knight

Bono, lead singer of U2, became a knight of the British Empire yesterday. He was honored in a ceremony in the Dublin home of British Ambassador David Reddaway.The singer was honored for his steadfast campaign against poverty and disease in Africa. Bono, whose real name is Paul Hewson, has in recent years become a vocal activist known for his support of social and political causes like debt relief of third-world debt and the AIDS pandemic in Africa.
Bono has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2003, 2005 and 2006 and was named by Time magazine as one of the “100 Most Influential People” in 2004 and 2006. In 2005 he was named Person of the Year, with Bill and Melinda Gates by Time magazine.




Angelina Jolie and her 5 year old adopted son Maddox, picked up the latest addition to her family, a little Vietnamese boy named Pham Quang Sang. The boy, almost 3 1/2 years old was renamed Pax Thien Jolie, a combination for the Latin word for peace and the Vietnamese word for heaven. Sang, who was abandoned in a local hospital when he was only a month old had to be soothed by orphanage staff because to him, Angelina and Maddox were strangers.In a small ceremony that announced the decision of the chairman of the city’s people’s committee, Jolie agree to adopt the child. In Ho Chi Minh City, the adoption was later confirmed when Jolie signed official documents at the city’s justice department. The adoption will be final one U.S embassy official approve the paperwork for Sang to travel to the U.S.
