Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI) that conducts XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test) every year has not released its XAT 2011 date as of now. All that is known about XAT is that it is going to be conducted in the month of January.

India is going to celebrate the Teachers Day’ on this coming Sunday that is September 5, which is the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the very first Vice – President of India. In the year 1962 he became the second President of the nation for the next five years.

After his election as the President, his near and dear ones including his friends and students asked for the permission to allow them to celebrate his birthday. But he said, “Instead of celebrating my birthday, it would be my proud privilege if 5 September is observed as Teachers’ Day.”

So, from that year onwards, September 5 is celebrated as Teachers’ Day. Schools all over the country have grand celebrations to mark the day.

Some schools organize various competitions, where teachers participate and the students judge them. Some schools organize fest, where the students cook various dishes for the teachers in the school itself.

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) has started the sale of registration forms for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2010. It sale of the forms will start from Monday, August 30, 2010 and will continue till September 27, 2010. But the registration’s official last date is September 30, 2010.

CAT examination is the entrance exam for the admissions in all the IIMs spread over in India and also in some other top business schools. The Indian Institute of Management is considered the most prestigious management institutes in India and it is very tough to crack the CAT, which every year keeps on increasing its level.

As far as the examination is concerned, Himanshu Rai, the Convenor Prefessor of IIM, Lucknow said, ”The exams will be conducted from October 27 to November 24, 2010, while the results will be declared on January 12, 2011.”

The registration forms are available from select Axis Bank branches for Rs 1,400, for General Quota, whereas, for SC/ST candidates the cost of the form is Rs 700.

The Spokesperson for the District Attorney, Sandi Gibbons has stated that the prosecutors might forward charges against  Hollywood star Mel Gibson, in relation to the ongoing domestic violence investigations with ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva. The investigators have already presented their proof to the concerned prosecutors.

Gibbons said, “They brought us one-half of the investigation and that half involved the investigation of Mel Gibson. They are also investigating the actions of Mr. Gibson’s girlfriend. That has not been presented.”

The investigations were initiated in the month of July by the Malibu Hills police after an alleged claim by Oksana Grigorieva, now Gibson’s ex – girl friend of domestic violence. She claimed of Gibson hitting her on the face, whereas, he says that it is all made up by her to extort money from him.

What is the reality behind the scene will be known exactly after the investigations are over. To make the situation complex, Gibson and Grigorieva are also entangled in the custody dispute over their just eight month old daughter.

Varalakshmi Vratam is a pooja (worship) performed in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. This pooja is performed by the fairer sex.

Varalakshmi Vratam is the Sanskrit name of ‘Vara Lakshmi Vrata’. The name itself suggests that this pooja is dedicated to the Goddess Lakshmi.

This pooja is always done on the last Friday of the month of Ashadha or Adi (a month in Hindu- Indian calendar) that falls in the months of July – August, according to the English calendar.
As per the Hindu mythology, Goddess Lakshmi is said to have visited a lady by the name Sarmadi, who was very religious in her dreams. She had her home in Kuntinapura – Magadha, Bihar. Goddess Lakshmi was very impressed by the lady’s devotion towards her children and so expressed her satisfaction regarding this and blessed her.

The lady, aware of her dream performed pooja of Lakshmi the very next day. As soon as the other women who stayed near around came to know about the lady’s dream and her pooja, they too performed pooja on the very same day.

After that day, the women every year perform the Varalakshmi Vratam on the same tithi, that is the last Friday of the month Ashadha.
