Hollywood city council voted Wednesday to rename a block that surrounds a CNN building after talk show host, Larry King.

“Larry King Square” was named in recognition of King’s 50 years of broadcasting service and of his interview show on CNN, the longest running interview program on CNN.

The council also agree to rename and intersection near Parramount Studios “I Love Lucy Square.” The renaming honours comedienne Lucille Ball and Lucy Casada, owner of the popular restaurant called Lucy’s El Adobe Cafe.

Famous cook, Rachael Ray, is launching a nationwide search for the next hot cook called “So You Think You Can Cook.”

“We just want to give a person — a real person, not a chef or somebody specially trained to do this for a living — a shot at showing everybody their personality and how much fun you can have with food,” Ray told the Associated Press.

The field will be narrowed down to 5 contestants who will square off during 2 weeks of competitions with a winner being announced in November.

The winner will co-host “The Rachael Ray Show” for 1 day, have an original recipe published in Ray’s “Everyday With Rachael Ray” magazine and receive training at a U.S. culinary institute.

Kanye West ain’t going back. At least that’s what he said during a full out temper tantrum at the MTV Video Music Awards show. That is, he’s not going back to appear on the VMAs in the future.

Near the end of the awards show, backstage, West was apparently heard ranting about his loss in all 5 of the categories he was nominated for.  “That’s two years in a row, man … give a black man a chance,” said West.

The last time West pitched a fit was onstage after having lost the award for Best Video at the MTV Europe Awards. He stormed onstage, as the award was being presented to Justice and Simian, and argued that he should have won.

In other Kanye controversy, rapper 50 cent who is due to release a CD on Sept 11, the same day as Kanye’s newest CD told reporters that if his sales don’t beat West’s he will retire.

Dannie Lynn celebrated her birthday in true celebrity style on Saturday. Hundreds of guested showed up bearing gifts and well wishes for the child that has been at the center of a custody battle for most of her young life.

Guests were forced to surrender cell phones and sign a release form promising not to take pictures of Dannie Lynn or the bash. A hot air balloon shaped like a birthday cake decorated the front lawn while the backyard was purportedly decorated with a huge castle, bubble machines and a white carriage.

Yellow police tape cordoned off the property and about 6 off-duty police officers were seen providing security for the event.

More action at the MTV Video Awards included a physical altercation between 2 ex-husbands of Pamela Anderson.

Kid Rock was cited for battery after a physical fight with Tommy Lee. Versions of who instigated and why the fight started are varied but in the end security escorted Tommy Lee out and let Kid Rock stay to the end of the show.

A police officer was quoted as saying that Kid Rock could receive up to 6 months in jail but that it was highly uncommon for someone in that situation to receive that long a sentence.

Critics are not being generous with Britney Spears’ attempted comeback on the MTV awards show. Her performance was ripped apart by critics who said the 25 year-old singer’s performance included out-of-synch lip-synching and sluggish choreography. Perhaps the nastiest slap at Britney was the reference to her no longer taunt belly. One of the nicer comments came from producer Akon who later said, “She seemed nervous … you could tell by the expression on her face. Instead of just blocking everybody out and doing her thing, you could tell she was thinking about it.”

Not quiet the much talked about performance in 2003 where Brit and Madonna locked lips on stage.

Heidi Klum, supermodel, tv host, business woman and mother of 3 is the new “body” for Jordache Jeans.

Klum, 34, is the newest model for Jordache.  The ad campaign, photographed by filmmaker Brett Ratner, shows Heidi wearing classic Jordache skinny jeans in dark indigo.  In one of the ads, Klum is seen looking over her shoulder and brandishing a riding whip.

Previous Jordache models have included Britney Murphy and Elizabeth Hurley.

To mark the 30th anniversary of Elvis’ death, his daughter, Lisa Marie will duet in a video with her late father.

In a 2 hour recording session, Lisa Marie laid down the tracks of her voice singing “In The Ghetto”. Her voice was then added to Elvis’ original version. The duet’s recording was then added to a new video that is to be released on Friday by the AOL site Spinner.com.

Lisa Marie stated, “…the next morning, I heard the rough … and … I’ve never cried when I’ve done anything … ever … but I just lost it when I heard it.”

Proceeds from the new version will be used to build temporary housing for the homeless in New Orleans.

To mark the 30th anniversary of her father’s death, Lisa Marie is scheduled to attend featuring her father on video with his band and former backup singers giving live support.

In a novel ad campaign Mary-Louise Parker is naked.  Well, except for the snake she’s wearing.  The snake campaign which promos Showtime shows has the actress naked except for the snake draped over her shoulder and down her back.  Parker said it wasn’t being naked that concerned her but instead it was the snake that intimidated her.  She stated that she decided that the snake wouldn’t win and went ahead with the filming.

Parker stars in the Showtime series “Weeds”, a show about a widowed mother who sells marijuana to support her family. The series is in it’s third season.

Also photographed with the snake is David Duchovny.  He’s seen with the snake’s head on his naked shoulder and tossing an apple with a bite taken out of it.  Duchovny is starring in the new series “Californication.”

Amanda Bynes of “What I Like About You” fame has launched a clothing line named “Dear.”

Byne’s line is the latest celebrity clothing line from Steve and Barry’s. Hoping to cash in on her All American look, the line is being marketed towards tweens.  Steve and Barry’s is hoping to cash in on the tween market with a cheap fashion fix with prices for items not topping the $20 mark.
