Cruise liner, Carnival Splendor is reported to be decommissioned till the month of January next year, as it will be undergoing repairs and investigations. The officials have said that until the 16th January 2011, Carnival Splendor will be prohibited to enter into official service. The ship was stranded off the coast of California on the 8th of November, with almost 4500 people on board.

All the passengers including the crew, are safe and sound, but they will be having everlasting memories of being stranded in the ocean for almost 32 hours. The Ship has been towed to San Diego where it will be repaired and shall remain there till the month of January.

Authorities from the Cruise company will be providing the stranded passengers a full refund of their tour which even includes the flight fare. In addition to this they would also receive a 25% discount on all their future tours and cruise. The Ship is being thoroughly repaired and investigated by the U.S. Coast Guard, the National Transportation Safety Board, Carnival engineers and technicians, and the Republic of Panama.

The India International Trade Fair 2010 finally concluded on Sunday, where Mr Anand Sharma, the Union Commerce and Trade Minister inaugurated the IITF 2010 on Sunday. Mr. Sharma concentrated on the theme of Energy Technology and Eco-Technology.

“It is clean technology, green technology have assumed a special place in the planning, in policy formulation, in investments, in innovation, in research worldwide. India has also embraced it, it is country conscience of the changes that are taking place I the environment around us in the climate. India has the fifth largest installed capacity of renewable energies in the world,” said Anand Sharma.

This year the Energy Technology and the Eco Technology was exclusively the highlight, unlike the previous year where China was focused. Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra were among the partner states of the IITF this year. Newly appointed Chief Minister of Maharashtra Mr. Prithviraj Chavan and Mr Ashok Gehlot, CM of Rajasthan, had inaugurated the pavilions of their respective states. Dell Inc. has made an official announcement stating that it will be acquiring the business software firm, Boomi, as the company is looking forward to make its presence strong in the corporate sector. Boomi is a firm that develops Web-based business-software applications, which helps the transfer of data of the firm smoothly running in remote locations and also on site.

The company was founded in the 2000, and its major clients include, Salesforce.com Inc. and NetSuite. Rival International Business Machines Corp. Dell on the other hand has not disclosed any sort of financial informations or agreements made between the two companies.

Many technology companies in the US are looking forward to make a concrete hold in the data center market including Dell. Recently Dell was in a bid war along with Hewlett Packard, to purchase the data storage provider company, 3Par. The Dell CEO had disclosed about the company’s acquisition of a cloud service providing firm on Tuesday, at an event in Hong Kong.

M&T Bank Corp. is all set to buy the Delaware based Wilmington Trust Corp. for $351 million. Wilmington Trust Corp. was founded by the DuPont family in 1903, after which the bank has recently been bitterly hit by the loans, so in order to release it from such a financial pressure it has agreed to be sold to M&T Bank for $351 million.

As per the deal, the bank would be paying Wilmington $3.58 per share, which is almost 46% less than the closing rate on the 29th of October. The CEO of Wilmington Bank said in a statement regarding the sell off “the best option for our shareholders, as well as our clients and the employees”

As per the bank’s financial reports, it is said that it had reported a sixth straight quarterly loss. Later the bank contacted bigger banks and firms, which included M&T, in offer to take over this financial institution and positive responses have come from M&T’s side.

US Drug and medicine manufacturing giant, Pfizer has made a recall of some 38,000 Lipitor bottles in the US. The cholesterol fighting drug bottle is said to be emitting a very foul smell, as a reason for which the company has decided to recall the bottles from the US market. For Pfizer, this is the third recall this year in context with the same sort of problem.

Pfizer officials stated that they have made this recall on the basis of the complaints received by two customers in the US, as they felt a very musty and moldy odor emitting from the Lipitor bottles. After Pfizer investigated into the matter, they found out that the odor has been caused because of the bottles were exposed towards a chemical called 2,4,6-tribromoanisole, for too long.

2,4,6-tribromoanisole is a chemical which is used as a wood preventer on storage pallets. It is because these bottles may have come in contact with these chemical for a long period, the package might have caught the smell. According to experts, consuming the tablets within the bottle will not be affecting the patients, and a possibility of falling sick is very remote.

Japanese car manufacturer, Nissan Motors has made a recall of 2.14 million cars worldwide, making it the third biggest recall of vehicles in the motor vehicle history. This time Nissan has recalled it’s vehicles because the company has discovered a faulty ignition relay, which causes the vehicle to stall or makes it unable to restart. The countries which have been affected the most because of this recall is Japan, US and Canada.

Some 835,000 vehicles would be recalled from Japan alone and 762,000 vehicles are affected in US and Canada combined. The cars with this issue were built between 2003-2006 in United States, Britain, Spain, China and Taiwan. After the recall, the repair of the ignition relay is not free, but rather very cheap.

It would take only a mere 25 minutes to change the part and release the vehicle. It has been seen these days, that recalling more than 1 million vehicles has become a very common thing for giant auto manufacturers. Toyota, another Japanese car manufacturer, had recently made a recall of more than 1.66 million vehicles. For Nissan this another setback in the company’s financial year, as the cost of recalling vehicles is indeed very huge.

It is reported that Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder and CEO will be donating a huge sum of $100 million to the Newark Schools in New Jersey, on the Oprah Winfrey Show. Its a very generous and strong move by Mark, as this will be providing great help to this school system, as it is known to be one of the most troubled school systems in the US.

The announcement of the donation will be done on the Oprah Winfrey Show, along with the Newark Mayor Cory Booker. It is stated that Newark Schools are performing very low and that there is much improvement needed in the system.

Personally, Mark has no formal or informal connections with Newark, but he himself is a youngster and his help will be of great importance to improve the school system of America. At the Newark Schools, where some 40000 pupil study, it was reported that less than half of them are able to graduate properly. Poor performance and bad academy has shrouded the Newark School system since a long time now.

United Stock Exchange of India was inaugurated by the SEBI Chairman, C.B. Bhave and Reserve Bank of India Deputy Governor Shyamala Gopinath on the 20th of Sept. 2010. The United Stock Exchange Of India (USE) is expected to commence business from the year 2010 itself, as this is the fourth pan India exchanged to be opened in the financial trading history of India.

According to the reports it is stated that the USE is the latest stock exchange for currency derivatives. The SEBI has approved USE to commence currency futures trading by Monday.The USE will be representing the commitments of 21 Indian public sector banks, private banks and corporate houses to build an institution of standing. The USE is scheduled to begin trading in four currency pairs which are dollar-rupee, euro-rupee, yen-rupee and pound-rupee.

The USE will create a unique bond between India’s financial institutions, specially between public-private with equity participation by both PSUs and private sector banks. To name a few banks who have their stake in the USE are – ahabad Bank, Andhra Bank, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Canara Bank, IDBI Bank and State Bank of India.
