The M A Chidambaram Stadium on Friday shined and glittered, as many stars of Bollywood descended at the opening ceremony of the Indian Premier League in Chennai, India. The stage was set for the most spectacular crowd, which had still the excitement of the World Cup win.
Fireworks and some amazing performances had marked the opening of the most awaited season of the IPL 2011. As the captains of the teams came up on the stage to mark the beginning of the season, the crowd cheered the loudest when the victors of the World Cup, Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh arrived.
Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan along with south actress Shriya Saran entertained the crowd with the most popular dance numbers of Bollywood as well as Tollywood. The president of BCCI in his speech, welcomed the two new teams Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Pune Warriors.
The popular Prince Dance Group too had graced the occasion with their performance. Bollywood singers Sunidhi Chauhan and Kunal Ganjawala performed on the best of the Bollywood tracks. The singing trio Sona, Mansai and Akriti performed on ‘Aa Dekhen Zara’ from the movie ‘Rocky’. In the concluding segment Shahrukh entered by saying a few lines in Tamil language and continued to perform on the stage.
