Chavvi Rajawat Sarpanch of a village – a new age woman in India

Chhavi Rajawat, 30, an MBA with a rewarding career in the corporate world has left the luxuries of it all and done the unthinkable. She’s gone back to her roots, to her native village Soda, 60km from Jaipur, in her quest to do something for own people.

For someone who has had her share of corporate success in the city, taking such a decision was more of an emotional one. The villagers actually emotionally blackmailed her into going back to them. And she couldn’t say no to them seeing the hope and expectation in their eyes.

A gutsy woman, Chavvi, was now using her business sense to generate funds for the Village Panchayat and seemed to be enjoying her work. According to her, the village Sarpanch job was her most challenging one as the village Panchayat had no funds of its own and the remuneration the Sarpanch received was almost pitiable. Moreover,it was considered to be a 24×7 job. So corruption had become the order of the day. No wonder, city bred people also found it hard to work in villages when a comfortable city job paid them handsomely.

She was determined to stayed focused on her work, in spite of looming corruption and was finding new ways to work as woman Sarpanch for the benefit of all.
