This event is into its fifth year as it had started in Sydney in the year 2007. Very soon it caught up with the rest of the world as awareness of the significance of saving energy was growing by the day. Every year on the last Saturday of March Earth Hour is observed all over the world when people switch off the lights around them from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
This year the World Wide Fund of Nature, which looks after the event, has further urged the people to conserve all kinds of energy like fuel, water, besides electricity.
