Legendary Indian Vocalist Pandit Bhimsen Joshi Passes Away

Indian legendary vocalist, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, who is better known for his song “Mele Sur Mera Tumhara”, has passed away due to prolonged illness, he was 89. Pandit Joshi has been a recipient of the Bharat Ratna, and was presented with this award in the year 2006. The singer was in a very critical condition when he was admitted in the hospital, and was provided with life support systems.

Pandit Joshi belonged to the famous ‘Kirana Gharana’, and was the most auspicious singers of the group, his voice was considered to be mythical and extraordinary. He has left behind his wife, three sons and a daughter in the family.

There is realm of sorrow amidst his family and also the city where he resided, because his personality and commitment towards Classical Indian music was just exceptional. It was not only his voice that set him apart from the regular classical singers India, rather it was his mystical breath control that he used during his performances which mesmerized everyone. As he passed away many singers and legends from across India have condoled his death, for the country will never have a Bhimsen Joshi again.
