Asia Marks the 5th Anniversary of the 2004 Tsunami

Thousands of people from across the globe took part in prayers and other ceremonies across Asia today to mark the 5th anniversary of the Indian Ocean tsunami that killed about 250,000 people in 14 countries back in 2004.

The tsunami left hundreds of thousands homeless on coastlines across Africa and Asia and was one of the most horrifying natural disasters of our time,

The 2004 tsumani was caused by an earthquake undersea which then triggered the towering waves killing people and submerging islands.

In Banda Aceh, the place that faced the worst part of the tsunami, the Indonesian vice president, Boediono, offered a prayer at a huge grave site of the many  tsunami victims.
