President Obama Backs India For A Permanent Seat In The UN Security Council During Visit

US President Barack Obama has backed India to gain a permanent seat in the UN Security Council, on his recent visit to the nation. He has made this strong point as he and the United States considers India as a great power among the world’s top nations and that the nation needs to have a strong position in the UN.

At the Parliament he spoke saying “The just and sustainable international order that America seeks includes a United Nations that is efficient, effective, credible and legitimate, that is why I can say today — in the years ahead, I look forward to a reformed UN Security Council that includes India as a permanent member”

But he also advised India that with great power comes great responsibility and that important sanctions and resolutions will need to be passed as the country becomes a part of the Security Council. US National Security Adviser, Ben Rhodes, said that the US is looking at India as a great economic, strategic and democratic power for the future, for their intentions are very clear.
