The first test match played between India vs New Zealand in Ahmadabad had come to a point where the Indian team was staring at defeat and every run from there on was as precious as it could have been. At 15/5, India was standing at shames rock, as the whole team could have collapsed easily without scoring triple figures, but thanks to Harbhajan Singh and VVS Laxman, they stood on the crease firm and provided India a miraculous 200+ runs lead.
The spotlight during the second innings was Harbhajan Singh, as he scored his second half century during this match, and indeed it has been an impressive innings by him. The reason of the Indian batting being packed up so early during their innings was Chris Martin, whose ferocious bowling attacked whizzed the Indian batsmen.
VVS Laxman once again proved that the aging warhorse can still stand tall in such battles and he too completed his half century, by securing India by givinging a fair lead to their opponents. It will be up to New Zealand now, as how they opt to pluck Harbhajan and Laxman’s wicket, and halt their consistent march in gaining a strong lead.
