Eric LeGrand of Rutgers has been injured severely and it is reported that he has been paralyzed. The incident occurred during a game against Army, when the young player collided Malcolm Brown with less than five minutes left on the score board, on Saturday.The impact was so hard that Eric lay motionless on the field for several minutes as the medics were trying to treat him. When finally he did not respond to the treatment they took him to the Hackensack University Medical Center.
Its reported that Eric has been paralyzed below his neck as he suffered a very serious spine injury. Late Saturday night, Eric underwent emergency surgery on his spine. The doctors have said that he has been kept in the intensive care unit and will stay there for some more time in the future. For everyone in the team, this incident was a shock, and they just hoped he would be well soon.
His coach, Greg Schiano was in tears during the press conference and said that, the players in the dressing room wish that Eric would be walking with them very soon. At the hospital Eric could recognize everybody, but has shown no positive signs in his paralyzed body.
