Oscar winning actor Nicolas Cage has been appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador for the U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime. The “FaceOff” actor has also become the recipient of the U.N. Correspondents Association’s Global Citizen of the Year award for humanitarian activities.
Cage follows the footsteps of other celebrity U.N. Goodwill Ambassadors such as Angelina Jolie, George Clooney, Nicole Kidman and Charlize Theron – who are all part of the UN.
The actor has been playing an important role in raising awareness about international arms control. besides donating $2 million to set up a fund that helps ex- child soldiers.
Nicols Cage has acted in several movies such as “National Treasure”, “Ghost Rider”, “World trade Centre” among others.
He is also know to have married three times and is currently married to Alice Kim Cage.
