Fresh Mogadishu Clashes Claim 20 Lives

It has been reported that 20 people have been killed and some 70 have been injured in fresh Mogadishu clashes. The clashes took place between Islamic extremists and Somali government forces who are backed by the African Union peace keeping forces. There was heavy exchange of fire, as the attack took place on the Somali government forces and the AU troops in the South of Mogadishu.

Shell firing broke out in and around the Bakara Market in Mogadishu which left some 20 people dead and some 70 injured. The injured were soon rushed to the hospitals near by. Clashes between these groups have occurred regularly in the past in this war ravaged country of Somalia.

It is also reported that most of the artillery shells have landed far away from the spot where the conflict took place, where most of the casualties took place. The Somali government has some 6000 AU troops placed within and around Mogadishu, where the Islamists have consistently tried to attack the troops.
