A flash storm which occurred over the city on Thursday evening had most possibly created the tornado which has caused a lot of devastation. Wind speeds were clocking at 70 mph, and has damaged buildings, cars and other public property and in addition to this one person has been reported to be killed.
The storm which hit New York city has caused considerable damage, which mainly includes the transportation system, as rail lines suspended briefly. Cars were damaged extensively, and for this reason there was traffic on the roads, which made commuting very hard.
Power too was disrupted in the city and specially in Queens, where more than 24,000 households and customers were without power for hours. Speaking of the weather, a tornado was not actually declared by the authorities, but a funnel cloud was visible over the north northeast region of Staten Island.
