Footballer David Beckham is in Cape Town, South Africa to assist England in their bids to be the hosts for the 2018 World Cup when he received the sad news that his grandfather expired.
Beckham’s grandfather, Joe West was 83years old and is known to have fallen sickness in August.
Inspite of his grandfather’s death, his family has encouraged him to continue with his sports commitments in South Africa.
One of David’s close friend told reports: “David is absolutely devastated. He was so close to Joe, who was his mentor. He’d only just got off the plane when he heard the news. His family are urging him to stick to his work commitments and leave at the end of the week, but there is no way that David wants to miss Joe’s funeral. If he has to fly home, then so be it.”
