Two US soldiers were reported to be killed in an Iraq Army compound when a man wearing US Soldiers uniform entered the compound and open fired on the troops, Tuz Khurmato, north of Baghdad. It is now reported that when the man opened fired two US Troops were killed and nine were injured. The attacks were the first attacks and casualties after President Obama declared the latest Operation New Dawn.
New Dawn is an operation which marks the first step to end the combat activities of the US troops in Iraq. The US forces have stated that the new focus in Iraq today is to provide the Iraqi army with proper technology and equipments.
The officials state that even though there is a change in the mission objective, it does not mean that the threats have become less. The number of attacks and violence in the Iraq has risen to a new level specially in the month of August and September, during which these attacks and terrorist activities were at the peak.
