Deadly Blast Rocks Pakistan Mosque Killing 24 People

A deadly blast rocked a Pakistan Mosque Monday, during which it has killed 24 people and injuring 25 in the tribal region of South Waziristan in Pakistan. The officials have said the blast occurred in the bazaar area of Wana, where there has been the most of the casualties. It has also been reported that among the dead include the former Pakistan National Assembly member, Maulvi Noor Mohammad.

The South Waziristan area falls as the epicenter of the Taliban and Pakistani forces fight. There has been regular conflicts in this area between the Taliban militants and the Pakistani forces. But it has been noticed that the Wana area falls outside the Army campaign against Taliban.

The reports of the officials state that Mr. Mohammad was shaking hands with people outside the Mosque, when a suicide bomber came to him to shake hands and detonated himself. Pakistani forces had killed three Al Qaeda militants in a raid on a hospital, after which Al Qaeda felt that Mohammed had given the security forces the information about the militants in the hospital. But still it has not been confirmed that Mr. Mohammad was targeted or not during the blast.
