Police Gain Control Of Hijacked Bus In Manila After Shot Being Fired

The Manila police have attempted to gain control of the hijacked tourist bus in the city, to free the 15 passenger tourist on the bus. The tourists are mainly from China and Hong Kong and were kept hostage in the bus by a person who himself was an ex-police officer in Philippines. The suspect had taken over the bus with an assault rifle.

The Manila police tried to break into the bus by breaking the windows and glass with a sledge hammer, but there has been no movement in the bus after there was a strong firing from the police lately. The bus driver was able to save himself as he managed to escape the bus when the shooting began.

He told the new reporters that the suspect had opened fired on the Hong Kong hostage tourists. The Philippines government state that the gunman was ex-police inspector Rolando Mendoza. Rolando had been dismissed from the police forces under the charge of extortion.
