All the members of the parliament should have been happy to witness a enormous raise in their salary scale. Their salary was up by around 300%, from Rs.16,000 to Rs. 50,000. Daily allowances which were Rs.1000 a day has been doubled and their constitutional allowances rose from Rs.20,000 to Rs.40,000.
Plus their convayence has gone up from Rs 1 Lakh to Rs. 4 Lakh. But with all these raises in their salaries and allowance have failed to satisfy the Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and the Rashtra Janta Dal. These members adjourned the Lok Sabha for almost an hour showing their dissatisfaction on their raise.
Mulayam Singh and Lalu Yadav were on insisting the Parliament during the Question Hour, stating that the raise should be Rs. 80,001. Mr. Yadav said that this raise in an insult to the Indian Parliament and this bill should be torn and thrown away. Most of the MP’s in the Parliament session were on their feet protesting against the insufficient raise.
