The Ministry of Home Affairs in India, has summoned that it will be have a meeting on Thursday with all the officials of the respective telecommunication providers of the country, and will discuss over the matter of the security issues raised by BlackBerry services in India.
The Ministry has not clarified which operators will be attending the meeting on Thursday, and will Research In Motion be present in the meeting, but rather they have stated that, we can say something only when the meeting of the Ministry is over.
RIM’s BlackBerry has become a strong point of discussion with the Department of Telecommunication India, as security agencies of India have raised concerns that the encryption used by BlackBerry services, makes it hard to monitor the services. This is a point of national security.
If terrorist organisations in India and outside India will use these services, then this will pose a direct threat to the Indian security. Recently the government has stated that it will close down the operations of BlackBerry in India, if they do not respond to the concerns made by India.
