Another accident of drunk driving kills four labourers and leaves four other wounded in the South Delhi area today, Monday July 26, 2010. They were hired for the road repair work.
One of the senior police officials informed that the incident happened on the Safdurjung overbridge at around 2 am. It is learnt that the driver was supposed to be under the alcoholic sway.
The official said, “The labourers were undertaking repair works on the road when the incident took place. The driver of the car fled from the spot soon after the incident leaving behind the vehicle and two friends, who were travelling with him.”
The official said the two persons were questioned and they were helpful in identifying the driver. “We have not made any arrests yet,” he said.
Out of the eight workers that were hit, two succumbed on the spot whereas the other two were declared dead in the AIIMS hospital while undergoing treatment.
