Kargil Day – July 26 Will Be Celebrated As Kargil Vijay Diwas, Kargil War Day In India

In honour of the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for India during the 74 day Indo-Pak war in Kargil, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) declared that July 26 would be celebrated as ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ every year.

Party president Nitin Gadkari along with other leaders will pay tribute to the martyrs of the war at India gate’s Amar Jawan Jyoti (Flame of the immortal warrior) on the day at 5:30 pm. We lost our 527 soldiers in the 1999 Kargil war. ‘The Indian Army with all its great might and struggle won the war in just 74 days, pushing out the Pakistani infiltrators,” informed BJP General Secretary, Vijay Goel.

Whereas, in Pune all the state government officials would be paying tribute to the soldiers at the Collectorate office. The programme would be starting at 11 am. The invitees for the programme are ex-servicemen, widows of the deceased soldiers and heads of the various state government offices.
