Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s five senior officials, NN Alhat- Deputy Commissioner, Amrish Patnigere ex – Deputy Commissioner, Divakar Samel –Assistant Commissioner, Jaywant Dalvi and Prakash Kamble both working in the accounts department had been arrested in September, last year by the CBD Belapur police officials.
These officials are claimed to have been involved in the HB Bhise & Co. scam. This company was given the contract to remove illegal constructions. These officials on the reasons of health took shelter in the hospital to order to avoid their jail terms.
The high court petition stated, “Considering their middle age group in which the petitioners fall, and further considering the various ailments being suffered by the petitioners, the doctor advised the police to admit them to the ICU.”
But now after almost 10 months of their arrest, these officials would be taken into custody again. They have been asked to surrender themselves by August 2, 2010.
