It was after the incident that the Indian Women Hockey team coach M.K. Kaushik had allegedly harassed 31 of the women player, the topic of sexual harassment in sports came up. But according to Nisha Millet, a sportswoman who had participated in the National Games in the year 1999, was told to meet an officer from the Indian Olympic Association in his bedroom.
She told the reporters that an unnamed IOA officer had approached her and told her to use his bedroom as she was sharing a small room with a woman journalist that time. But she states, that if women stand up and complain against coaches and officials, then it is for sure a sportswoman’s career is over.
The Hockey sex scandal is just a small plum on the pie, there have been many such undisclosed cased in the women sports sector. If such complaint goes to the federation of a particular sport, then these people don’t have the courtesy to take action. Justice can only come when women approach the women’s association or the women’s commission, who would react swiftly against such acts.
