The commercial capital of India today was lashed with heavy torrents of rain, which the city experienced today. The rains played havoc and caused heavy road and rail traffic in the city, water clogging has been experienced in the suburban areas of Mumbai.
The Meteorological Department provided the statistics of rain that has been poured in the city, stating the suburban area of Santa Cruz received 94mm of rain and the Coloba area received 83.7mm of rain. Rains have always been a problem for the city of Mumbai since many years, and especially talking about the water clogging, the issue has always comes up in the rainy season.
Trains, which has been the transportation nervous system for Mumbai, has been affected greatly by the rains. Both the Western route and the Central route, has experiencing difficulty in the mode of proper transportation, with trains running almost 20 to 25 minutes late. Water clogging has been seen in the areas of Vikhroli, Andheri, Malad, Kurla, Hindmata and Chembur.
