The Bihar legislature suspended 67 members on July 21, Wednesday for creating havoc on the second day of the Assembly in Bihar. They were practically thrown out for their unruly and non parliamentary behavior.
The scene was created when the members of the Opposition party asked for the resignation of the Bihar Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi. The CM and DCM have been claimed to have been indiscreet in the matter of money sanctioned for the developmental schemes. It amounted to Rs.11,412.
Sushil Modi, feeling sorry for the incident said, “We have been repeatedly telling them [the Opposition] that the State government is ready to debate any issue pertaining to the alleged irregularities, answer any question, be it on AC bills or DC bills.”
The opposition was in no mood to have a mutual discussion over this issue. Uday Narayan Chaudhary, the Speaker when found that the scene is going beyond control, he suspended the session and asked the legislators to leave then and there. The most offending part came later when one of the 67 legislators threw his slipper at Chaudhary.
The attack happened right in the presence of the media.
