Madhuri Gupta, Junior Indian Diplomat Is Charged With Spying For Pakistan

Madhuri Gupta, a junior Indian diplomat has been arrested under the Official Secrets Act. Gupta is claimed to have been spying for Pakistan.

Gupta, 53 used to work in the Indian Embassy in Islamabad before being arrested. She served in the information department of the embassy.

The news of Gupta’s arrest was confirmed by her lawyer, Joginder Dasiya. He said, “When I get the copy tomorrow morning (of the police charges) I will be able to comment. At the moment I have no details.”

The police informed that Gupta was under observation for six months before she was arrested. They also told that if she is proven guilty, she might face sentence anywhere from three years to 14 years.

Gupta is facing charges for her alleged passing on information from the head of India’s external intelligence service, Islamabad.
