Studies By African Scientists Give New Hope To Women in H.I.V. Fight

The latest two African studies have found new ways to cut the HIV infection among the women. The South African scientists who are striving for the highly affected rural and urban regions claim that they have found something that will cut the HIV infections in women.

According to the 30 months study, the women who used the vaginal microbicidal gel had 39 per cent chances less to get affected by HIV. If these women used this gel regularly the chances dropped down more, almost to 54 per cent. The study was conducted on 889 women by a Durban based AIDS research centre, Caprisa.

This study needs to be tested a bit more in order to confirm the results. The gel will not be available in the market up till then. When the product gets in the market on a larger scale it would cost less than 25 cents per application.
