Supposed to be one of the biggest drug trafficking case this year, the Bangalore police have arrested two Nigerian citizens who were found possessing 230 gm of cocaine, in the city on Sunday.
The accused duo are Kelvin ( Chigindu Emakachiku ) aged 24 who hails from Aba in Nigeria and Ogugua Benneth 25, who is a native of Nteja city.
It is said that one of the two accused had no travelling documents along with him.
The drug that was seized from them was worth Rs.30 lakh in the international market.
Kelvin was caught red handed on Cunningham Road near cafe Barista while selling the cocaine pills, whereas, Ogugua was caught on Church Street while he was searching for appropriate customers.
Alok Kumar, joint commissioner of police, crime branch informed,“The accused persons will get at least 20 years of imprisonment under the Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances Act.”
Kumar further said that the police had received information about these Nigerians who had made their selling point near coffee shops, bar and restaurants. He said,
“We have information that these peddlers identify their customers and woo them to eat outs and coffee shops to sell the narcotics.”
The accused persons have named a person called Johnson for supplying them with drugs since one year now.
