Aleisk is a small town with 30,000 residents in the Altai region of South Siberia in Russia that is getting much more attention than hoped for, after Tatyana Barabanova, at the age of 43, delivered her 12th child, a 17 pound baby by Caesarian section on September 17th. For those that are not familiar with pounds, the child weighs 7.7 kg. Medical sources said that both the mother and the baby girl, Nadia, are feeling very well.

Why this sounds like an impossible thing to happen, because this is Russia’s world largest baby, yes a record, born from two parents that are not tall or big, just average. They ate regularly potatoes, noodles and tomatoes.

The Guinness World Records lists a 22 pound, 4 ounce baby boy born in Italy in 1955, and a 23 pound, 8 ounce baby boy who was born in the United States in 1879 but died 11 hours later. - MSNBC
