The Leash is off “Dog” Chapman
August 6th, 2007
Duane “Dog” Chapman, celebrity bounty hunter, is no longer being hounded by Mexican authorities. Late last week a Mexican judge dismissed a charge of illegal detention.
Chapman has been fighting the charge for over 3 years. The charges stem from an incident in 2003 when Chapman tracked Andrew Luster, millionaire convicted rapist, to Puerto Vallarta where the fugitive had hid after having jumped bail. While apprehending Luster, passer-bys alerted the police and Chapman and two relatives that were helping him. It is illegal to bounty hunt in Mexico. After 2 weeks of detention in a Mexican jail, Chapman and his relatives jumped bond and returned to the U.S. Mexican authorities have been attempting to extradite him ever since.
Chapman’s attorney stated, “”Chapman can now be in Mexico without any problem.”
