SpiderMan 3
July 16th, 2007SpiderMan 3 opened internationally and brought in $29.5M in the 16 overseas markets beating out the openings of the previous two films in the franchise. The film opens domestically on Friday and looks to be the blockbuster opening to beat this summer.
The 2 previous films, SpiderMan and SpiderMan 1 had a combined earnings total of $1.6 billion worldwide.
The hype is big with many movie houses having midnight showings that are already sold out. The film, which reunites Tobey McGuire, Kirsten Dunst and James Franco, also introduces two new villains: Topher Grace as Venom and Thomas Hayden Church as Sandman.
The story line is simple, Good vs. Evil, only this time Peter Parker, SpiderMan, not only has to battle the bad guys, he also has to battle himself. After his suit changes to black, Peter finds himself changing as well, and not for the better. The change brings out his dark, vengeful side and Peter becomes arrogant and overconfident and starts neglecting the people that care for him and eventually he is forced to choose between the increased super powers of the suit and being the compassionate super hero he once was.
