March 12th, 2007

Ant cookies with Bachaco

An unusual culinary demonstration, took place in Caracas, Venezuela where chef Nelson Mendez, served to those curious, delicious Venezuelan food considered luxury, that made the participants really sick when they noticed what they’re being served with.

Mendez offered the guests, Araguato smoked monkey, smoked alligator or spiders. As a desert the eccentric chef serves you with cookies made with Bachaco, which is a large type of ants. Not sure about you but I would ran away as fast as I could if I were to be served with these dainties. For those that enjoyed his food at the gastronomic fair in Caracas, Nelson Mendez promised to teach them how to prepare it, themselves.
