Bono a Knight

Bono, lead singer of U2, became a knight of the British Empire yesterday. He was honored in a ceremony in the Dublin home of British Ambassador David Reddaway.The singer was honored for his steadfast campaign against poverty and disease in Africa. Bono, whose real name is Paul Hewson, has in recent years become a vocal activist known for his support of social and political causes like debt relief of third-world debt and the AIDS pandemic in Africa.
Bono has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2003, 2005 and 2006 and was named by Time magazine as one of the “100 Most Influential People” in 2004 and 2006. In 2005 he was named Person of the Year, with Bill and Melinda Gates by Time magazine.


In 1997, after her breakup with ex-husband David Justice, Halle Berry told Parade magazine that she tried to take her own life. Of the suicide attempt Berry said, “I was sitting in my car, and I knew the gas was coming when I had an image of my mother finding me.” After a second marriage, which ended as a result of Eric Benet’s sex addiction and cheating, Berry says she is now taken control of her life and is considering motherhood. She credits therapy and counseling for getting for life on track and is not dating male model, Gabriel Aubry.
Rumors had Michael Jackson in hospital with pneumonia but his spokesperson, Raymone K. Bain denied those reports. She claimed that Jackson, while ill, was not in the hospital nor had he been. According to Bain, Jackson is at home conducting meetings with business associates.
In the largest, most comprehensive study of its kind, The Kaiser Foundation released a report on the conclusions of their research into 1,638 hours of children’s programming. The study reports that in those hours they found nearly 9,000 food and beverage advertisements. The breakdown of those ads are 34% for candy and snack, 28% for cereal, 4% of the ads were for dairy products and 1% for fruit juice. Not one of the 8,854 advertisements in the Kaiser study included fruits or vegetables.
To the horror of everything “Idol” holy Sanjaya Malakar escaped getting the boot for another week. Instead the audience voted out Chris Sligh. After a steady decline in his performances, Sligh’s tempo-challenged version of “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” by The Police earned him the honor for going home.
Donatella Versace revealed that her daughter, Allegra, is suffering from anorexia. The renowned fashion designer stated that her 20 year old daughter has been admitted to a specialized clinic to be treated for the eating disorder. Versace released a joint statement with Allegra’s father asking the media to respect their privacy. “Sadly she has been suffering from this disease for some years and the cures have only been temporary. For some time the situation has become worse and that is why we decided to place her in a designated specialized clinic where she is receiving the best possible treatment.”
Wynnona Judd has filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences” from her husband, Dan Roach, of 3 years.Divorce papers were filed less than a week after Roach was arrested on sex charges involving a minor. Roach was arrested in Abilene, Texas and charged with three counts of aggravated sexual battery against a child younger than 13 and according to a police spokesman is expected to be extradited to Nashville, Tenn.
