Taliban attacks two mosques in Lahore, Pakistan – 80 killed, dozens injured

As many as 80 people were dead and almost the same number of people were injured, in a coordinated terrorist attack that took place in a Mosque in Lahore, Pakistan last evening during Fridays ending prayers. The militants were armed with guns and grenades as they took hostage the people inside the mosque for nearly three hours, before the Pakistani security personnel could take control of the situation.

The terrorist were donned with suicide bomb jackets, and they entered and struck the locality of Model Town and Garhi Shahu, both the areas are minutes distance from each other. Search took place by the security personnel, sniffing out house by house and room by room in and near the localities near the attacked area. According to the Commissioner of Lahore, three suicide bombers dressed in bomb jackets, detonated themselves in the Garhi Sahu Mosque – a Minolta Ahmadi group- killing almost 80 people.

No terrorist group has taken the responsibility of the attack but intelligence suggests this might be the Punjabi Taliban. According to eyewitness counts, the terrorists threw grenades all over before entering the mosque, and then started firing blind folded, only later going in and exploding themselves killing innocent lives.
