Ravi Shankaran, Naval War Room leak case accused arrested in London

It was a big breakthrough for the CBI today, as they snapped their hands on one of the main accused in the Naval War Room leak case, Ravi Shankaran, who was held in London.

The 46 year old, who was a close kin to the Naval Chief Arun Prakash, was arrested by London’s Metropolitan police in April, the information was sent to the CBI recently. CBI director, Ashwini Kumar, has stated that, they have arrested him (Shankaran) and he is moved for his early extradition.

CBI official have said that, once Shankaran is deported from UK, then they will have the full liberty to question his involvement in the War Room case. He has been convicted to send crucial and classified information to commercial firms for pecuniary benefits.

CBI had plans to arrest Shankaran in 2006, when he was spotted in UK. But he was able to sneak out of the hands of the UK police, as there was an arrest warrant against him.

He was flying with a valid passport all over the continent, but then the external ministry revoked his travel document which came in effect on the 1st of April 2006.
